There are 3 main fittings, all 3 essentially do the same job but how they are assembled is where they differ. All 3 hoses aim to have an air tight seal to prevent leaking fluids and need to be installed the correct way. Below is a table explaining how they seal
SWIVEL
These have a sleeve, which you push onto the pipe first, then you put on the correct shaped end and screw the sleeve and end together, creating a seal as you tighten
PTFE
This again has a sleeve which you slide on first, but you add a small olive onto the end of the pipe. This olive creates the seal as you tighten the sleeve and end together
PUSH-ON
The easiest to assemble of all the fittings. This is a case of cut the pipe to length and push over the fitting. Some cases a Jubilee clips is required to seal when there is high pressure
